TallyFlex behavior data collection on a Chromebook in a special education classroom

Trusted by 10,000+ practitioners since 2020. 500K+ sessions tracked. Works on Chromebook, even when the wifi doesn't. Classroom trials can start small; shared district use runs on Teams with education pricing.

Sound familiar?

8 IEP goals. 6 students. 6 hours. Post-Its and a clipboard.

Post-Its everywhere

Tally marks on a clipboard. Notes on the back of a worksheet. Half the day's data lost by 3 pm.

Apps blocked on Chromebook

When behavior software does not fit school Chromebooks, teams fall back to paper or personal phones - both create problems.

Wifi that drops mid-session

Rural classrooms. Older buildings. Off-site placements. The cloud app freezes and the morning's data is gone.

IEP meeting scramble

Re-typing tallies into Word the night before. Pasting graphs that won't fit the page. Hoping every data point is there.

Why TallyFlex for SPED classrooms

The behavior data collection app built for the way your day actually runs

Works on Chromebook (and offline)

Runs in the browser on Chromebook, plus iOS, Android, and web. Offline mode keeps you collecting data when wifi drops and syncs automatically when you reconnect.

Core methods on Free, full methods on paid plans

Free lets you test 8 recording methods with up to 2 sample students, including frequency, duration, latency, interval, percent correct, ABC data, and MTS. Solo and Teams add Task Analysis and prompt levels.

Multi-student session switching

Run up to 10 concurrent sessions. Switch between students during morning circle, reading block, or recess without losing your place. Timers keep running. Data stays separate.

Reports when you are ready for the paid workflow

Free gives you raw CSV and Excel exports. Solo and Teams add Generate Report PDFs with progress graphs, trend statistics, session summaries, and an executive summary.

Unlimited staff (on Teams with education pricing)

When your district adopts TallyFlex on the Teams plan with education pricing, paraprofessionals, OTs, SLPs, and behavior specialists all get accounts. Same data, role-based access, no per-user fees.

A district path for FERPA paperwork

District DPAs are available on Teams with education pricing, with privacy details ready when your school needs them.

A real classroom day, on TallyFlex

What it looks like when the data lives where the teaching happens.

Morning circle (8:30). You start a momentary time sampling session for engagement during shared instruction across the group. Every 60 seconds, the app shows the sample moment, then gives you 15 seconds to enter what was true at that exact moment. Tap which students were engaged with the morning-circle materials when the prompt appeared. Six students, four data points by 8:32. You stay available for instruction.

Reading block (9:15). One-on-one with a student working a percent-correct goal. You tap correct or incorrect after each trial. Bulk trial entry lets you log a 10-trial set quickly. The graph updates the moment you save the session.

Recess incident (10:45). A student has a behavior episode. You open the ABC tracker on your Chromebook. Antecedent: peer conflict at the swings. Behavior: struck peer's shoulder with an open hand. Consequence: staff checked safety, prompted the taught break request, and offered the regulation space per plan. Done in 30 seconds while the memory is fresh - not from a Post-It at 4 pm.

End of day (3:15). You review the day's graphs and basic export data. The next morning, the data is still there, the trend is visible, and tomorrow's lesson is informed by today's session - not by what you remember.

Bringing TallyFlex to your district

You see the value first. Your SPED director sees the data. Your district handles the contract.

What SPED teams are saying

More accurate data from staff

" I don't have that issue anymore with TallyFlex. Not only do my staff members take data more often, it is so much more accurate and it's so much more easy to analyze so that I know how to help my students. "

SPED teacher FAQs

Is TallyFlex FERPA compliant?

TallyFlex is built for district FERPA review with encryption, role-based access, 7-year audit logs, and Data Protection Agreements on request for school districts using Teams with education pricing.

Can I run sessions for multiple students at once?

Yes. TallyFlex supports up to 10 concurrent sessions, so you can switch between students during morning circle, group reading, or whole-class behavior sampling. Each student's data stays separate. Timers keep running in the background. Bulk trial entry lets you log percent-correct data for several students without losing your place.

What do I tell parents who ask about the app?

TallyFlex replaces paper data sheets and clipboards with a secure digital record. Parents receive the same progress information they always have, just with cleaner graphs and less manual work for the team.

Does it align with how I write IEP goals?

TallyFlex supports the measurement methods many IEP goals use: frequency counts, duration, latency, percent correct, ABC data, partial/whole interval, and momentary time sampling. Solo and Teams add prompt levels, Task Analysis, Programs, and Generate Report PDFs for the fuller reporting workflow.

Will it actually work on a Chromebook?

Yes. TallyFlex runs in the browser on Chromebook, plus iOS, Android, and any web browser. Offline mode is built in - if your classroom wifi drops or you're at an off-site placement, you keep collecting data and it syncs when you reconnect.

Your data shouldn't disappear when the wifi does.
